ARBLOC - FORMWORK FOR CEMETERY NICHES
The benefits of on-site concrete pouring in the construction of cemetery niches

The structure of the columbarium
The structure of a columbarium built on site has two essential features: it is light weight and solid. The cell-like form of the niches makes for a monolithic structure, with the columbarium a sole unit with the foundation, which in turn, as it does not have to passively sustain the weight of the concrete, can be composed of a simple bed. This type of structure can thus be constructed in all morphological conditions of terrain, with noteworthy economicalbenefits owing to the uncomplicated design and implementation.

arbloc’s formwork for cemetery niches features blunted corners; thus the concrete cast is thicker on the joins between the floors and the walls. This aspect guarantees enhanced impermeability in the critical points of the niches such as the bottom and the point where the concrete is re-poured because the concrete is thicker compared to the front side.

The monolithic structure offers further guarantees of solidity, especially in seismic areas, in the case of ground settling.

Slope towards the inside
The niches must be realized with a slope of approx. 2% towards the inside. This is achieved by simply levelling the floor with a slope. The wooden carpentry of the vertical walls is independent to formwork and does not effect the slope. The walls can in fact be precision plumbed and thus plumbed facades can be achieved.

Very rapid installation of marble
The installation of marble is very rapid because the front wall of the niches is consistently uniform and plumbed in respect to the footpath. There is thus a noteworthy saving on labour because the walls and the floors do not need to be plumbed.
